Educational Background: Rev. Béghin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2012 from the University of Arizona with honors in German Studies and minors in Sociology, Religion, and German Language. Hoping to go into forensic psychology, God had other plans for Emily and she went on to earn her Master of Divinity degree in 2015 from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where she received a strong theological education specializing in Preaching and Pastoral Care studies. In 2021 Emily began working to earn her Doctorate of Ministry Degree with a focus on Wonder of the Soul from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Pastor Emily's final project is on the impressions of the most controversial images of Jesus Christ from the postmodern era and their effect on the spiritual development of young people today. Her graduation date is upcoming!
Ministry Experience: Pastor Emily was ordained in the Presbytery of the Grand Canyon on October 11th, 2015, and was called to serve as a Lily Resident Fellow, resident minister at First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, MI. After finishing the program in 2017, she went on to serve as an Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, VA, then First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, TX, and Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, FL. Emily is excited to learn and grow alongside the staff and members of RRPC in her new role as Pastor and Head of Staff.
Personal Life: Emily was born in Indianapolis, IN and raised until the age of 12 as a Methodist in Carmel, IN. When her family moved to Scottsdale, AZ they became Presbyterians, and the rest is history! Pastor Emily has a husband, Brian, two step children, Kaylee and Liam, and a little baby on the way, Theodore (expected Easter Sunday 2025!) Also a part of the family are dogs, Sammy and Gibbs and her black cat, Salem. Her hobbies include playing the trumpet, watching Sci Fi shows, and reading. She takes her lattes with a shot of lavender hot or iced and she loves having tacos for lunch. Texas has been a home to her soul and she is glad to be living in Round Rock amongst such a vibrant and growing community.
